We had this really fun project to squeeze out right before we close for a short break (we re-open September 22!). It’s always fun to work with colours although it tends to be more challenging since not all the stone shapes are available in all the colours, and this can limit design options… especially when it comes to the larger stones.

The pictures we received of this beautiful green American Smooth gown that a lot of blue filigree-style stoning on the top, with gold accents and these gold swoops that draped from the hip on the sides.

I wanted to capture the filigree style detail on the sides of the headband, but keeping the front a little more simple because I felt that this would suit her face shape better.

And the side detail -with optional gold danglies! I just couldn’t get those gold swoops out of my head, but I wasn’t sure how much “action” she wanted. Since we were working in a critically short period of time, I came up with the idea of having it optional, so this way she’ll be able to amp up the bling according to how she feels (or even add it between rounds). The result was truly a one-of-a-kind piece, and this is the first headband that we have made like this.

Needless to say, this sparked off more ideas for some stock designs 😉

We may be taking a short break, but the ideas haven’t stopped coming in… so we look forward to getting out some new designs very soon! And of course – a shout out to Sophia who will be wearing this fabulous new headband, and best of luck at her competition this weekend!!
