Sheila is a lovely local dancer who was having her new standard gown made by Atelier Medina. They were working with a striking colour combination of fuchsia pink and teal (love!!). They had approached me to work with Sheila for some customized accessories and when I saw the design, I really wanted to be able to keep true to the actual Atelier Medina sketch:
I loved the thickness and how it worked with the dress, but to make it that thick and completely out of stones would have been much more expensive than what was possible with the budget. Luckily, I was able to use some of the extra gorgeous sequin lace from the dress as a base for the necklace. This helped achieve a very three-dimensional necklace (with our silicone base underneath, so it wouldn’t feel abrasive from the bottom of the lace) to get that volume and boldness we were after.
The colours used were Fuchia with Emerald AB, Jet AB and a sprinkling of Blue Zircon. I was very pleased with how it turned out, being the first time I’ve incorporated lace into the design. Sheila looked beautiful dancing in the Vancouver Snowball and I was able to snap a few pics 🙂
