I’ve spent a good chunk of the day sketching some accessory ideas to match a recently purchased necklace. I admit, I’m actually really slow at sketching. Sometimes I get into fights with Adobe Illustrator as well. I’m developing a system (hello, scatter brush!) that I discovered can shave infinite amounts of time off the drawing process. Phew! But I do enjoy it, in spite of it’s momentary frustrations.

Sometimes a hair accessory design can really be influenced on how a dancer will typically wear their hair, and according to their preference of gluing things to their forehead/face.  Low bun, french roll, high bun, pony tail… side bun… braids… makes for infinite possibilities in how to organize the hair and the accessory. For the design below, we went for something that could go with a high or low bun if it’s worn similar to the sketch, and still leave some room for hair swirls on the other side (although for artistic purposes I just decided to draw the hair down).
