For those fans of classic Jazz tunes, you may have noticed that most of our necklaces are named after Jazz Standards.

Our design “Day in, Day out” (which started out named as “stringy necklace”… so you can see how the Jazz Standards make for much better names) was a design that I fought with for a long time. It seemed that every time I tried to produce this design, things would go wrong. Something would break down, or something ruin the half-finished necklace, and eventually I figured it was cursed and being such a pain in the butt that I would never make this one again.

So it sat in our files for almost two years.

… until I ran across it last week and almost threw it away. I thought, well, I’ll give it one more chance. I made some changes and gave it a whirl. We currently didn’t have anything like it in stock, so might as well see what happens. And I’m happy to say that the results were good. What nearly ended up in the trash actually only needed a break and a bit of tweaking.

Of course, after this successful ending, I wondered why I had so many problems at first?!

I’m pretty sure there is a life lesson in there somewhere…
